Since 1925 - one hundred years - the United Way of Washington County (UWWC) have been serving our neighbors in need in Washington County, Pennsylvania. They collaborate with people, organizations, and businesses to identify critical local needs and raise funds annually to invest in the local programs and services that are addressing those needs and having a positive impact in Washington County. Particular attention is focused on programs addressing education, financial stability, and health and in specifically focused areas of food insecurity, veterans' needs and supplement needs.
The UWWC serves the community by linking those folks in need to those resources in Washington County with our 24/7, 364 days/year resource helpline, 911. Help is just a phone call away when calling 911.
The UWWC serves the community by connecting volunteers with projects offered by local nonprofits at www.volunteerwashco.org.
The UWWC creates opportunities for community members to donate much needed items to those in need by holding care drives to collect back to school supplies, hygiene items for teen girls, warm weather gear of coats, hats, and gloves and other collections that are in need in its community.
The UWWC steps up after learning that the Emergency Food Shelter Program (EFSP) of FEMA was absent in Washington County for eleven years. Since 2022, over $500,000 has been designated to local programs to provide food and shelter to our neighbors in need.
Together, with support from people who live and work in Washington County, the UWWC meets the needs in its community.
