Our mission is to save neglected, high risk and desperate horses who have suffered from abuse and neglect. We are committed to helping retired racehorses find their second career. Helping to "re-purpose" Off-the-Track Thoroughbreds, and take horses whose owners can no longer care for them, giving them all a place to stay until they can be adopted by a loving family. Horses provide a powerful healing ability that everyone can benefit from. We share that healing with our community through our many programs working with veterans, women affected by physical and sexual trauma, adult and youth community service, at risk youth and more. We work with groups in the community to offer unique interactions with the horses and find ways to give back.
Aiken Equine Rescue was established in 2006 with almost 80 acres of land. Our credo is "People helping horses, horses helping people". Our social mission fosters programs to offer an opportunity to connect with the heart of a horse. We believe there is an educational, enriching and emotional connection that only horses can provide - connecting the heart of a horse with the soul of a human.
