Social Impact Productions is focused on designing, developing and producing educational and socially impactful communications. Through video, film, print, social media and other communications methods, Social Impact Productions will address important social and cultural issues in the United States.
The first project of Social Media Productions will be to develop a promotional video as the first step in producing a film documentary. This documentary will celebrate the diversity of cultures and ethnic traditions that have made America the amazing country that it is today.
In order to assess the viability of our end goal, which is to produce a 90-minute documentary, the 5 to 7 minute promotional video will include personal interviews, immigration statistics, graphic design, animation, music, vintage and present day photography/film, and especially, video footage from different cultural/ethnic celebrations.
As of May 2020, we have participation of the Chinese New Year’s Parade in San Francisco, the German American Festival in Toledo Ohio, Native American powwows in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Rapid City, South Dakota, and the Mexican festival Día de los Muertos in San Francisco. We are also in contact with African American, Irish American, Scottish American, and Italian American cultural associations, and the Society of the Mayflower Descendants, to contribute to the promotional video. We estimate the promotional video will require approximately 6 months to complete.
The promotional video will help us attract the participation of additional cultural/ethnic organizations and festivals, professional videographers, writers, nationally respected documentarians, graphic designers, production/editing talent, narrators, photographers, musicians, historians and, of course, the necessary funding to develop the full documentary.
We envision the final documentary to include 15 to 20 different cultural/ethnic organizations and festivals and to begin full production in 2021. Once completed, the documentary it will be released to documentary and film festivals across the country.
We also desire to have a companion educational component for the U.S. educational
system.
It is important to state that Social Impact Productions has no political purpose or agenda. Our initial project, the promotional video and follow-on documentary, will provide an opportunity for people across the United States, and potentially, across the world, to see the diversity of cultures within America. And indeed, to introduce ethnic celebrations that many Americans may have never seen. It is a project focused on inclusion, hope, shared values, education and understanding.
