JERICHO PROJECT

New York, New York

In 1983 a group of caring New Yorkers founded Jericho Project. Growing from our genesis as a small housing program that helped homeless men and women move off the street, Jericho now provides more than 500 units of supportive housing as well as significant life-changing services to more than 1,500 homeless and at-risk adults and children, including more than 550 veterans throughout New York City. Inspired by the belief that transformation can occur in every individual that comes to us for assistance, Jericho Project steadfastly works to advance its mission to end homelessness at its roots by creating a community that inspires individual change, fosters sustainable independence, and motivates men and women to reach their greatest potential.

The New York City homeless population has surpassed 50,000 — including over 1,000 veterans — with poverty affecting a growing number of individuals and families. Jericho Project provides housing, case management, employment services, and other critical programming to 1,500 adults and children in five service areas: Supportive Housing, Workforce Opportunities, Family Programs, Veterans Initiative, and Homelessness Prevention and Housing Placement.
