The state’s only large-scale, free rural veterans outreach event.
Each September, Mountain Valor Fest brings federal, state, and local partners together for a day of connection, education, and community. It is the only event of its kind in rural Virginia, and for many veterans, it’s the first time they’ve had direct access to VA and state resources all in one place.
The event includes a 9/11 and GWOT Remembrance Ceremony, dozens of resource booths, live music, kids’ activities, food trucks, military displays, and hands-on support for caregivers and aging veterans. Accessibility is built into every piece of the event.
Impact at a glance:
• 160 veterans and 70 veteran spouses/widows served at MVF 2025 (130 veterans and 50 veteran spouses/widows at MVF 2024)
• 30+ resource providers including VA, Virginia DVS, Vet Centers, and local partners
• The only free, large-scale rural veterans outreach event in Virginia
• Fully accessible and designed for aging veterans and caregivers
