Our mission is to provide veterans an outlet for togetherness and camaraderie, via local get-togethers, activities, and weekend trips, to support healing and fighting suicide, while in the comfort of other veterans. This will be accomplished by providing a relaxing, low-stress environment, via local get-togethers and weekend getaways for Veterans. These events will be in a safe environment and with like-minded individuals. Furthermore, there will be the opportunity to connect with other Veterans for encouragement and camaraderie, in addition to solidifying future support and friendships, with the hopes of preventing Veteran suicide. Not all have seen combat, but all answered the call to serve, and pledged an oath to protect and defend. Now it’s our turn, Veteran to Veteran, providing an outlet to help decompress from that obligation. Our initial focus is on that of the all but forgotten female Veterans.

We Are Not Forgotten was formed in 2023 when its founder saw a need to ensure that the more than 1500 female Veterans in the Permian Basin, area of Texas, were not forgotten for their service and sacrifice to our country. Our target population for 2024 has been focused on female Veterans in the Permian Basin, Texas. Our goal was to help at least 12 females over the course of the year, not including the female Veteran board members that accompanied those Veterans on each of the trips. Our goal is on providing two to four weekend getaways per year, providing female Veterans in the area an outlet for decompression, relaxation, and connection-building with other Veterans. The trips planned are catered towards the females that have expressed interest in relaxation, hiking, camping, beach retreats, or other interests focused on ways to escape and decompress. Each trip will be planned according to the females interested, or female Veterans will be contacted based on the trip planned and their individual area of interest. This way there will be other female Veterans with similar interests that can provide much needed future support once a trip has ended. Our ultimate focus is for decompression, low stimulation, camaraderie, and encouragement all the while lifting up each other to allow for future support as needed. This will provide a larger support network with access to a broader group of local female Veterans from each trip or get-together. All the while providing contacts for someone to turn to for everyday support, if needed, or more specifically allow a support network of like-minded women to turn to in the event of a crisis.
