During these times, efforts to serve our most vulnerable citizens are more critical than ever before. Seniors in our community who are isolated and unable to shop or prepare meals rely on us to deliver hot meals for the week. Those who are unable to drive, or who lack the means to get to medical appointments, depend on us to provide free transportation. These are only two examples of how we continue to provide help and hope to those in need during the Coronavirus. We also provide meaningful opportunities for caring citizens to serve and financially invest in their community. Our current programs and services include:
Senior Hot Meals - deploys approximately 50 volunteers a week to purchase, cook, and deliver an average of 57 meals (hot dinners with lunch for the next day) to seniors, veterans and disabled every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We're partnering with the Enumclaw Senior Center during COVID-19 to serve even more seniors.
Full Bellies - serves free, hot meals to an average of 80 people on Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:30pm at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Enumclaw. In response to the Coronavirus, we are giving out sack meals to go.
Weekend Backpack Meals - provides weekend meals for an average of 250 students each month attending Enumclaw Elementary and Middle Schools whose nutritional needs may not be met at home during the weekend. During COVID-19, we have partnered with Enumclaw Schools to serve nearly 350 youth and families each week.
Care Van - a free transportation service for non-emergency, health related appointments including doctor, lab tests, physical therapy, dentist, chiropractor, prescription pick-up, and more. As the only cross-county transportation service in the area and providing more than 2,200 transports annually, this service is available weekdays from 9am-4pm.
Integrated Student Support Initiative - a partnership between RFWF, local school districts, community partners, and funders focused on promoting student success by securing, developing, and coordinating supports that target academic and non-academic barriers to achievement. Even during the Coronavirus, we have successfully recruited seven volunteers to serve as mentors for middle school students in Enumclaw and White River Schools through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound.
Headquartered in Enumclaw, RFWF is uniquely positioned to impact our community by providing critical direct services and convening and collaborating with donors, volunteers, clients, businesses, local government and faith and community leaders to identify and meet the needs of our most vulnerable citizens; and solve our community's toughest challenges.
