Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary

Whispering Acres Farm Animal Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating, and providing lifelong refuge to abused, neglected, and abandoned farm animals. Our sanctuary offers a safe, loving environment where animals who have suffered trauma are given a second chance at life.

We specialize in rescuing animals from cruelty, neglect, and abandonment, and we proudly provide refuge for animals displaced by domestic violence. Recognizing the critical need to support families fleeing dangerous situations, we partner with local domestic violence shelters to offer safe housing for their beloved farm animals, ensuring that no one has to choose between their safety and the welfare of their animals.

At Whispering Acres, healing extends beyond the animals. We create opportunities for people and animals to heal together. Through our animal-assisted therapy programs, we support individuals living with PTSD, autism, trauma, and other special needs. Veterans, survivors of domestic violence, and individuals facing mental health challenges find comfort and purpose through meaningful interactions with our rescued residents. Our equine therapy initiatives, featuring our horses, donkeys, and goats, help foster emotional resilience, trust, and confidence.

Education is central to our mission. We offer humane education programs for schools and community groups, teaching compassion, responsible animal stewardship, and ethical alternatives to factory farming practices. By sharing the inspiring stories of the animals at Whispering Acres, we aim to cultivate empathy and encourage a more compassionate world.

Whispering Acres is proud to be a part of broader community rehabilitation efforts. We collaborate with juvenile rehabilitation programs, offering young individuals a structured, therapeutic environment where they can learn responsibility, empathy, and the importance of kindness through hands-on work with animals. We also provide opportunities for individuals who are completing court-ordered community service, allowing them to fulfill their obligations in a way that promotes personal growth, accountability, and positive contribution to the community.

Our community service volunteers assist with a wide variety of tasks including feeding, grooming, maintaining clean living environments, assisting with facility upkeep, and participating in educational initiatives. Many who come to Whispering Acres seeking to complete service requirements find healing and inspiration through their experiences with the animals.

Since our founding, we have saved the lives of over 100 animals, each with their own story of resilience and hope. Whispering Acres is more than a sanctuary—it is a place of transformation for both animals and people. It is where broken spirits are mended, trust is rebuilt, and new beginnings are made possible.
