The situation regarding COVID-19 is fuid and will continue to impact our communities in evolving ways . The COVID-19 pandemic is the humanitarian crisis of our time and marks an unprecedented time in modern history that will require the best of humanity to overcome. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause human suffering on a global scale, an increasing number of US small business fear that the economic impact will also lead to a reduction in revenues and are uncertain about the future. Local businesses are the heart and soul of our communities. And they are facing a crisis. Social distancing and government-mandated shutdowns are disproportionately affecting businesses that need foot traffic to survive. The economic and personal impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic are increasingly devastating for individuals, families and small businesses across the U.S. Even before a crisis like this, nearly half of the nation’s 30 million small businesses only have enough cash on hand to operate for 15 days without customers. If they shut down, paychecks for millions of workers are in jeopardy, which will have serious impacts on their families, communities and our economy as a whole.Solidariedade Na Mokili’s Small Business Relief Fund aims to raise support for small businesses impacted by the COVID-19 crisis — especially those run by women, people of color and immigrants.
