Our veterans rarely get dental care from the VA unless they are designated 100% service disabled. For the last 12 years, we helped low-income combat veterans and families find volunteer dentists in their communities to provide free dental care, all over the country. Rather than directly provide the dental services in a single location, we find a volunteer dentist in the veteran’s community to provide free dental care.
Low-income combat veterans anywhere can fill out an application online at this website. We verify the veteran’s status through their military DD214 form and 2 phone interviews. Currently, we have around 500 dentists, plus dozens of specialists and dental labs across the United States who have provided volunteer services to our low-income combat veterans in 32 States.
With this successful beginning of connecting dentists to combat veterans and listening to these veterans’ stories, we recognized that we can use this model of connecting dentists and expand this opportunity to individuals and local businesses, so we created the Wingman Program. Some of the services we have provided include:
- music and yoga instruction for physical and mental improvements
- food assistance during times of personal hardship
- gym membership to a local gym to improve or maintain physical condition.
- moving assistance to help a family settle closer to supporting family or new job
opportunity.
When a qualified veteran is identified in your area, we will let you know and you can problem solve for the veteran yourself, or with your friends, co-workers and family members to accomplished the mission for the veteran.
Our combat veterans can have a long and difficult road back home. We can each contribute something to improve their lives. Although the impact of war and our combat veterans’ contributions have moved off the front pages, the need back home is more urgent than ever. Our experience showed us that most individuals and businesses are willing to help some combat veterans. The missing link between the need and the solution is a user friendly avenue to connect a combat veteran’s need to an offered solution -- and that is precisely the aim of Everyone for Veterans.
