Last season Mesa Arts Center captivated the imagination of over 45,000 students throughout the Valley from over 215 schools. Additionally, it served 61,000 lifelong learners through its culturally diverse studio programs.
It's core programs include Project Lit, which uses the arts to improve traditional and social literacies. Additionally, through a live concert series with Jazz at Lincoln Center, more than 3,000 students each year are actively involved in a music-based integrative curriculum to enhance reading and social studies. In partnership with area senior centers, Mesa Arts Center works with hundreds of older adults actively participating in its Creative Aging program, which mixes art, music and literature to engage older adults physically and mentally in creative activities that enhance self-esteem, morale, and overall health. And through our newest program, Arts In Service, veterans engage with fellow veterans and their community through studio art classes.
In addition to programs, Mesa Arts Center offers four major free family-oriented festivals are key to our community's involvement. Our one-day Season Kickoff Festival attracts 3,000-5,000; Día de los Muertos engages over 20,000 in Hispanic culture and arts; Mesa Arts Festival is a juried arts and crafts show each December that draws 15,000+; and spark! Mesa's Festival of Creativity completes our events with more than 10,000 guests.
On any given day, you may find a group of ceramic students placing their work out to dry; you may hear the pounding of an anvil from the metal arts class, or hundreds of children laughing as they enjoy an interactive show; you may watch group of seniors dancing along to a live concert or perusing one of the captivating exhibits in our contemporary art museum.
