Community Collaborations and Resilience Exchange (CARE)

di COPPER BEECH INSTITUTE

Copper Beech Institute believes inner and outer transformation go hand-in-hand. From our earliest days as an organization, we have gone beyond our four walls to partner with our community members who are incarcerated, experiencing homelessness, struggling with mental health or addiction challenges, supporting nearly 18,000 individuals. Our collaboration with communities most impacted by trauma, poverty, and systemic oppression is at the heart of all that we do and all that we believe in. Rather than seeing ourselves as the holders of knowledge that we disseminate to others, we see the deep wisdom in every person and seek to co-create learning experiences that bring us all closer to who we want to be in the world. Our CARE program is donor-funded and relies on the ongoing generosity of our Copper Beech community.

CARE is comprised of four parts: 1) Community Outreach, 2) Free Meditation Groups, 3) our Transformative Leadership Program (TLP), and 4) Scholarships. Our Community Outreach takes place throughout the community, especially in the prison system, mental health and addiction treatment facilities, and in other spaces supporting those most impacted by systems of oppression. We also offer Free Meditation Groups twice-daily, 5 days a week to our online community. This community grew out of need during the COVID-19 pandemic and it has been a lifeline for many struggling with loneliness, isolation, and grief.

Through TLP, we care for the caregivers, heal the healers, and inspire the changemakers. We bring free and subsidized mindfulness and resilience practices to workplaces and schools, with a special focus on social justice nonprofits and low-income schools. Mindfulness supports focus, eases conflict, and creates healthier and happier teams and students. No matter the workplace or school, we work to create a culture of mindfulness that lasts long after we offer our programs.

Last, we offer $75,000-$100,000 each year in scholarship funding to those who need it most. Our Boundless Heart and Healing & Justice Funds are particularly focused on those struggling with finances and those most impacted by racism, heterosexism, and other forms of oppression. We believe in access and never want finances to stand in the way of healing.
