Valor Partners Foundation
Overland Park, KansasMission: Uniting Americans in gratitude to provide hope and opportunity to families who serve. There are more than 18 million Armed Forces Veterans in the U.S. today. Valor Partners Foundation (VPF) honors the service and sacrifice of the whole family. Higher education is a powerful force against poverty and inequality in America and among our military and veteran population, but dependent spouses and children of 100% disabled or deceased veterans are not given the support they deserve. More than 1 million veterans are living in poverty today – and those veterans have families. Benefits under the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) program for spouses and children of disabled or deceased veterans, also known as Chapter 35, are meant to support educational access and achievement. However, this outdated program of the VA provides a small monthly stipend, significantly lower than the Post-9/11 GI Bill, Fry Scholarship, and Montgomery GI Bill, allowing too many veteran dependents pursuing higher education to fall through the cracks. Valor Partners exists to bridge this gap. VPF raises scholarship funds that are matched dollar-for-dollar by higher education institutions. Our partnership model fosters shared responsibility and commitment between the school and the foundation, focusing holistically on the student’s needs. Both parties work collaboratively to secure resources to enhance the student’s educational experience and outcomes. Students receive financial assistance for tuition, fees, supplies, housing, and other essential education-related costs, as well as the assurance of being valued and supported by their community. From mental health services to career counseling to peer support groups and more, our innovative model ensures that every financial gift is doubled and students also receive crucial on-campus military and veteran services support beyond the scholarship check.
The Valor Partners Foundation (VPF) provides hope and opportunity to the unsung heroes of our military—spouses and children of 100% disabled or deceased veterans—through strategic partnerships in higher education.
Guided by our core values, Honor, Educate, and Innovate, VPF collaborates with colleges, universities, and technical schools that match our funding dollar-for-dollar to close the financial gaps creating barriers to success for this underserved population.
