Families Left Behind: Emergency Relief for Families Affected by Deportation

When a parent or loved one is detained or deported, the impact reaches far beyond one person. A household can suddenly lose its primary income. Children may face homelessness. A caregiver may struggle to pay rent, buy groceries, or afford essential medication all while coping with separation and uncertainty.

For the family members who remain, the bills keep coming, even when the paycheck stops.

Eats 4 The Streets is seeking donations to establish an emergency relief program for individuals and families experiencing hardship related to immigration detention, deportation, and family separation. This includes people who remain in their communities but have lost a household provider, employment income, or access to healthcare and other essential support.

How Your Donation Can Help

Based on available funding and assessed needs, contributions can support:

Keeping families housed: Short-term assistance with rent, utilities, and emergency accommodations.
Providing everyday essentials: Groceries, clothing, hygiene products, diapers, and basic household necessities.
Supporting children: School supplies and other essential items that help children maintain stability during family disruption.
Helping people access care: Assistance with essential prescription costs and connections to community clinics and qualified health coverage navigators.
Connecting families with trusted help: Referrals to licensed immigration attorneys, accredited representatives, and qualified family support organizations.
Finding a path forward: Help connecting families with community resources and assistance programs for which they may qualify.

Our Commitment

We will prioritize assistance based on financial hardship and urgent household needs, with particular attention to children, seniors, and people with disabilities. Support will depend on funds raised, program capacity, and applicable requirements.

Funds will support the assistance described above and the necessary costs of delivering it. We will document assistance provided, protect recipients’ privacy, and never require families to share their stories publicly to receive help.

A family should not have to face separation, hunger, and homelessness all at once.
