AdaptLou is multiphase community development in Louisville Ky, designed to help those with disabilities thrive. We will create a model for the nation on the exponential advantages of mindful design and intentional engagement.
We will begin by adding adult adaptive athletics programming to an already very successful youth programming with another community partner. This programming will bring together the community that will fill the first major development project which will be an Athletic Complex built with Universal Design principles at the forefront. In addition to the well-known sports like, basketball, tennis, rugby, goalball, Archery, and studio sessions this facility will be home to the countries first paralympic equine program.
The second phase of the development will be a housing component where the ideas and effectiveness of multigenerational housing and universal design merge for the nation's first adaptive first community. This will become a model for other cities on our nation on breaking the barriers on understanding how intentional design can create exponential results for a community.
The third phase will be a business center, while it may not be an additional freestanding structure it will be the destination that drives the understanding the benefits this community has to offer to the market place. This will be done through education and equipping able-bodied businesses to be exceptional employers to a talent pool that they are overlooking. While also equipping our members with the knowledge and tools to excel in these roles.
Lastly, the Nurse Assist community - there is a gap in the market in caring for those who need a little oversight but not requiring full time medical care. The nurse assisted community will be a place where those with needs can achieve the independence, they and their family desires while having a place that can provide the reminders and prompting necessary to stay safe.
