STC’s mission is to make a variety of mental health, substance abuse, and rehabilitative services affordable and available to individuals and families whose access would otherwise be limited or nonexistent. Our purpose is to facilitate positive change by providing the tools and coping strategies that prevent abuse, end the cycle of intergenerational trauma, and empower people to build healthier relationships that result in safer, happier, and more equitable communities. Over the years, we have launched numerous programs and developed a variety of specialized services to better address the mental health needs of disadvantaged and underserved populations.
STC began as a small team of active parents motivated by a collective desire to keep teens engaged in school and avoid a future derailed by drugs and alcohol. In 1972, after we applied and became a 501(c)(3) organization, our efforts quickly expanded to ensure that everyone in the community could access the resources and tools needed for a safe, healthy, and productive life.
