FREEDOM WATERS FOUNDATION INC

Freedom Waters Foundation’s mission is to improve the lives of individuals with special needs and veterans by providing therapeutic marine related experiences on the waters of South Florida, Atlanta and Indiana and growing.

Incorporated in March 2006 and started with one child with cancer and his/her family and one boat owner donating their time and use of vessel for a three hour lunch cruise. FWF has now grown to serve many individuals with disabilities, life threatening illnesses, youth at risk and veterans on one or multiple vessels at a time. Local private and commercial vessels owners donate their time and use of their vessels for these FWF Weller Day boat outings and marine related activities.

Programs include: FWF Weller Day boat outings described above; fishing outings for youth at risk and veterans; adaptive sailing in partnership with Collier County Parks and Recreation providing the opportunity for people with disabilities to learn to sail and participate in an annual regatta for those with special needs.

Veterans program providing boating and marine activities for veterans offering camaraderie with fellow veterans in a safe, relaxing environment. Many of our veterans in turn volunteer to serve others within the FWF veteran program.

Volunteer program allows volunteers to participate on multiple levels and in various platforms, from being hands on with our participants to assisting with the in office and behind the scenes work to the keep the organization operating to our Board and Committee members who assist in outreach and fundraising.

FWF enhances lives throughout its programs and also builds a greater sense of community, well being, tolerance and understanding among those from various backgrounds.

Inevitably, everyone who is part of each program is touched in a positive way and walks away changed for the better and a memory that will last a lifetime.
