PLANET AFTER is an approximately 60-minute immersive theater experience that combines live performance, spatial sound design, and lighting to blur the boundary between observer and participant.
Set in the aftermath of a catastrophic rainstorm that has devastated civilization, the story follows two survivors sheltering inside a parked car that they believe is the last safe place left in an unrecognizable new world. Audience members experience the performance from outside the vehicle while wearing noise-canceling headphones that deliver live dialogue and an immersive soundscape, allowing them to hear the intimate world inside the car while physically remaining outside it.
Sometimes the most unsettling moments in life are what we can hear and not see, and we are excited to explore this concept with our show.
Beyond the technical - the story explores the different ways humanity deals with grief, survivor’s guilt, and where one finds hope in the wake of devastating loss.
The project brings together artists from theater, film, and music who are committed to creating ambitious immersive experiences to audiences. We are deeply passionate about collaborating with emerging interdisciplinary artists to tell this story, and hopefully many more to come.
We are seeking $50,000 for this inaugural production.
