The Rehearsal is a weekly music-first experience for artists, fans, and industry heads in South LA. We create a safe space where emerging talent can feel seen, heard, and respected—on and off the stage. Artists perform both released and unreleased music in front of a live studio audience. Through curated lineups, live streams, and performer interviews, we help artists envision themselves on bigger platforms while keeping the show grounded, intimate, and human. To fulfill these goals we keep the space free of charge, family friendly, and alcohol-free.
We feature 3-5 artists every show and provide the performers and the team of 12+ volunteers with real-world hands-on experience with a world class live music event production. From media training and stage presence coaching to audio engineering and production team apprenticeship, we aspire to provide a resource not only for audience attendees to experience under-represented artists, but for the next generation of builders and artists learning how to create spaces where art and expression are central.
Our vision is to build a global network of small-but-mighty spaces where artists can grow and be discovered—starting in South LA and expanding with care. A place to gather, listen deeply, and support culture that matters. In five years, we see The Rehearsal with its own venue, inspiring a movement of intentional shows and reshaping how we experience live music.
