Ladderworks is a NYC-based publishing startup of diverse picture books (based on the UN SDGS) with the mission to empower over a million kids to become social entrepreneurs. Our partners include the World Bank and NASDAQ.
The Ladderworks Creators' Academy (LWCA) is an internal division of Ladderworks with the aim of making creative entrepreneurship financially sustainable. LWCA provides publishing opportunities and training to a quarterly cohort of first-time creative writers and illustrators from diverse backgrounds across the United States. LWCA also trains these creative professionals to become trainers for future LWCA cohorts, thereby making the model self-sustaining.
We intend to raise funds for (a) initial printing of the hardcover picture books; (b) providing advance royalties to our creative writers and illustrators for creating the books and (c) providing compensation to the trainers for training the next LWCA cohort.
In the future, we intend to convert the picture books into multiple derivative products (online curriculum, toys, merchandise, TV shows, films, etc.) and provide continued royalties from the sale of these derivative products to the creative writers, illustrators and the startup founders on whom our picture books are based. This way, we intend to make creative entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship financially sustainable. Funds raised for the LWCA will help us kickstart all our projects to achieve this objective.
