Nonprofit Assistance Program
di LAWYERS CLEARINGHOUSE ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND HOMELESSNESS INCThe Nonprofit Assistance Program (NAP) matches volunteer lawyers with nonprofit organizations in need of legal assistance, with a priority for serving those groups that develop or sponsor affordable housing, promote economic development, or operate as homeless shelters, tenant organizations, and housing and homelessness advocacy groups.
The NAP will serve any Massachusetts nonprofit organization requiring legal assistance in connection with a project, problem, or opportunity. We specifically target nonprofit housing organizations (nonprofit housing developers, shelter programs, transitional housing providers, homelessness prevention programs, community development corporations, or tenant groups) and nonprofit community organizations (economic development programs, job training programs, small business assistance projects) requiring legal assistance.
In order to be eligible, the organization must operate or intend to operate as a nonprofit in Massachusetts, be unable to afford legal services or demonstrate that the cost of obtaining assistance would adversely affect their ability to fulfill their mission, and provide services to low- or moderate-income people or serve a compelling community need. We expect to serve 230 organizations during the grant period.
