Our all Volunteer group of, approximately 50, make and award quilts to veterans. Our group was formed in July 2023 with our first award of quilts in October 2023. Since that time we have awarded over 420 quilts to Veterans and Service Members in the Treasure Valley Area.
Our organization supplies all materials to the quilters so they have no out of pocket expense. We supply patterns, batting and long arm quilting to finish up the quilts before they are awarded.
We meet once a month to sew on the quilts as well as volunteers taking them home to work on throughout the month and returning completed quilts the following month. Each quilt takes approximately 50-60 hours to complete from start to finish, depending on the complexity.
Award ceremonies are usually held at our sewing facility on a monthly basis. We award an average of 10 quilts per ceremony. We also go to assisted livings, the VA Home in Boise, The Warhawk Museum, personal homes, fairs, business events and other veteran events to award quilts.
In order to continue to purchase Quilt supplies we have a yearly raffle quilt to help raise funds. We attend local events throughout the year selling tickets to raise the funds.
Any donation to our cause would be greatly appreciated. The average cost per quilt is approximately $200-$300, depending on its size.
