Seattle Arts and Culture for Antiracism

par SHUNPIKE

Seattle Arts and Culture for Antiracism offers ongoing and unembedded support and specialized trainings for all artists and cultural workers, arts and culture full and part-time staff, board and volunteers, and executive leadership free of charge. SACA offers monthly cohort group meetings and affinity group meetings, lunch and learns on specific topics like holistic safety and de-escalation, mutual aid on Seattle Center, and individualize support for small organizations that are implementing equitable practices. SACA exists to dismantle how white supremacy shows up in the arts and culture world by advancing and supporting anti-racist work both in Seattle and beyond. We build power with Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), whose voices and experiences inform every aspect of this work, to create a more racially equitable arts and culture community. We lead all equity work through the lens of race because it allows us to confront racism directly while addressing all other forms of systemic, institutional & structural oppression. We lead with race to acknowledge the disproportionate impact racism has on BIPOC communities and are committed to dismantling those systems of harm. SACA envisions an arts and culture sector that is actively anti-racist, representative of BIPOC communities in leadership, staff, donors and audience and who is committed to dismantling white supremacy culture and other systems of oppression that harm all of our communities.
