Honoring Our Veterans Support Initiative
Led by Mr. Michael Lynd, Sr., the Honoring Our Veterans Support Initiative is a comprehensive program dedicated to honoring and supporting veterans in San Antonio, Texas, and surrounding communities. This multifaceted initiative focuses on enhancing veterans' well-being and recognizing their service and sacrifices.
Meal Provision Program
A key component of the initiative is the provision of meals to veterans throughout the year. Local food trucks provide these meals, in an effort to support both the vendors and the veterans. Mr. Lynd and his team manage the logistics and coordination of this program, ensuring seamless delivery and maintaining high-quality service. Additionally, Mr. Lynd personally covers the cost of the meals.
Medal Ceremonies and Guided Tours
Mr. Lynd organizes medal ceremonies to celebrate and acknowledge the veterans' service. These ceremonies are complemented by guided tours of the Vietnam Army Grunt Museum, a personal project of Mr. Lynd. The museum, which is built around Mr. Lynd’s collection and contributions from other veterans, serves as a living legacy and tribute to those who served in the Vietnam War. The tours are educational, free of charge, and include a complimentary lunch, providing a meaningful social experience for the veterans.
Quilts of Valor Presentations
One of the most touching traditions led by Mr. Lynd is the Quilts of Valor presentations. Throughout the year, veterans are honored with handcrafted quilts, made by community volunteers. These quilts are personalized to reflect the valor and commitment of each veteran, serving as a token of appreciation and recognition for their service. Attendees also receive a guided tour and a complimentary lunch.
Through these programs, Mr. Lynd’s leadership significantly enhances the quality of life for veterans in retirement communities and ensures they receive the respect and recognition they deserve. His unwavering dedication to this cause exemplifies his commitment to giving back to those who have served our nation.
