Leadership Fellows Boulder County

par THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Anticipating and responding to shifting demographics and increasing cultural diversity in our community, Leadership Fellows Boulder County – a joint leadership development and networking program of the Community Foundation and the Boulder Chamber – offers emerging leaders a broad-based overview of Boulder County's economic, civic, and cultural drivers.

Curriculum topics of the 11-month program include, among others, Boulder County economics, Local Government 101, inclusive leadership, planning and development, critical human needs, health, education, and the arts and culture. Roundtable discussions explore a range of timely issues, and provide Fellows the opportunity to engage in conversations with current Boulder County leaders.

Since 2009 – representing the foundation's long-standing commitment to leadership development right here at home – the program brings together some 35 participants from across sectors every year, building networks and advancing inclusivity countywide.

To date, 80% of Leadership Fellows have joined a nonprofit board or a commission, or worked on a campaign; 50% will join a board or commission this year, and 2% will run for office this year. Another 55% of Fellows have assumed a different leadership role (e.g., PTO, neighborhood group, advisory committee, career promotion). And 90% of Leadership Fellows have a better understanding of what it means to be an inclusive leader. Nearly all Fellows (98%) report a better understanding of critical issues in Boulder County.
