Wheelchairs for Warriors

OUR ETHOS: “No man left behind” is the famous ethos of American soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines on the battlefield. Those who serve(d) stand in the gap for us, frequently sacrificing life and limb. We owe it to them to never forget and never leave them behind.

THE PROBLEM: So, what about when they leave the battlefield? Too often they ARE left behind as the machinery of bureaucracy grinds on. The history of our nation is rife with such instances as our wounded heroes are stalled and neglected, sometimes even unto death. Many times, disabled veterans and first responders are assigned substandard mobility equipment that hinders, rather than helps, their ability to function and... LIVE!

OUR SOLUTION: Wheelchairs for Warriors provides custom-fit wheelchairs, designed specifically to the individual warrior's physical and lifestyle needs. Sometimes, they may need a sports chair (to participate in athletics, hunting, archery, etc.), or a power chair (to relieve pressure sores, or be able to stand up with power assistance to reach into cabinets, etc.), or an ultra-lightweight chair (that they can lift into the back of his vehicle, or their spouse can lift easily)... whatever their need, we fill it. We want our warriors to have as much independence as possible and help alleviate some of the family's burden as well.

Our only criteria is the recipient has to have been injured in the line of duty.

OUR PROCESS: Our complex seating rehab specialist visits the warrior anywhere in the United States for an extensive seating evaluation clinic. We take into account their living conditions (accessibility, ramps, etc.), their lifestyle, their abilities, and restrictions. Our seating specialist then designs, orders, builds, a fully custom mobility solution. We deliver the wheelchair to the recipient and do extensive on-site training with them so they can regain the independence of enhanced mobility!

There is NO charge to the warrior.

OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Our board or directors is a diverse group of men and women with deep connections to the military or other uniformed service...either they have served themselves or have a family member who served. They are business people, community leaders, and citizens who love giving back to our community. Our board members are not employed nor compensated by Wheelchairs for Warriors. Their volunteer time is spent leading the strategic purpose of the organization, while providing counsel, direction and fiduciary accountability.
