The Arc of Space Coast was Founded in 1956 and established by a group of dedicated parents, caregivers, and advocates in Brevard County, Florida. This group recognized a critical lack of services for individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. All being motivated by personal experiences and a shared vision of inclusion and dignity, they created a community-based organization committed to empowering individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling lives.
We address barriers to well-being through a continuum of support. This includes residential housing, day programs focused on life skills and social engagement, employment training and placement including innovative ventures like recycling operations at local space facilities and specialized programs for disabled and homeless veterans.
Over nearly seven decades, The Arc has evolved into a trusted and essential resource, now serving over 135 individuals daily. Many clients have remained in programs for more than 20 years, reflecting the organization’s consistency and impact. Key milestones include the expansion of employment enterprises that generate sustainable revenue, the development of collaborative partnerships with other disability support agencies, and the introduction of veterans-focused services. The longevity of its staff, many of whom have served for decades, fosters deep relationships and a stable, nurturing environment.
As the only nonprofit in Brevard County offering such a wide array of services for adults with disabilities, The Arc of Space Coast continues to adapt to community needs while remaining steadfast in its mission to ensure every individual has the opportunity to live a life of dignity, purpose, and inclusion.
