UNITED WAY EDUCATION PROGRAMS

par THE UNITED WAY OF CENTRAL MARYLAND INC

United Way breaks down barriers to educational equity from every angle through our different education programs.

Our Family Centers, based in United Way Neighborhood Zones, provide free or low-cost onsite care and enriching early childhood education. The Brooklyn/Curtis Bay Family Center has a graduation rate of 67%, compared to 40% nationally due in large part to the program giving students the opportunity to stay in school and graduate.

Our On Track 4 Success (OT4S) program in Baltimore City schools uses early warning indicators to help young students now so they don’t drop out of school later. Not only is OT4S keeping kids on track to graduate but United Way’s unique position allows for more wrap around services so the students can focus on their education. OT4S has served nearly 4,000 students, and many of their families, by connecting them to much-needed resources such as food and clothing pantries, housing programs, mental health support, and more.

Young Men United (YMU) is an innovative equity and education initiative designed to support young men of color with their educational and vocational dreams – complete high school, pursue post-secondary education, and embark on fulfilling careers while closing ongoing education and earning gaps. United Way launched YMU in 2022 with fifty 10th graders at our two partner schools in Baltimore City.

With your support, we’re putting more students on the path to learning, earning their diploma, and achieving their dreams.
