At Stories Beyond Service, our mission is simple: to give Veterans an outlet and support to share their stories—honestly, creatively, and on their own terms. Each story is crafted with care, respect, and authenticity to honor the experiences of those who have served. We do this by spending time with each Veteran and collecting their story through a personal video/audio interview. We are then able to share each Veterans story with the community as well as archive the story for future generations.
Across Minnesota, countless Veterans carry stories that have never been told, recorded, or preserved. Many aging Veterans, especially Vietnam-era and early Global War on Terror Veterans, are at risk of their experiences being lost forever. At the same time, many Veterans struggle with isolation, identity change after service, and lack opportunities for meaningful self-expression.
