Enhancing Mobility and Accessibility: Funding Adaptive Equipment for MBIC Members

Introduction: At the Midwest Brain Injury Clubhouse (MBIC), we recognize the crucial role that adaptive equipment plays in the lives of many of our members. These tools are not just equipment; they are enablers of independence, dignity, and participation in everyday life. However, the cost of such equipment can be prohibitively high, leaving many in our community without the resources they need. This project aims to raise funds to provide adaptive equipment for our members, enhancing their mobility and accessibility.

Objective: Our goal is to secure funding to purchase a range of adaptive equipment, including specialized computer aids for visually impaired members, well-functioning walkers, and wheelchairs. This equipment will empower our members to navigate the city more independently and engage more fully in MBIC's programs and their own personal endeavors.

Scope of Work:
1. Assessment of Needs: Conducting thorough assessments to identify the specific adaptive equipment needs of our members.
2. Procurement of Equipment: Sourcing and purchasing adaptive equipment such as computer aids (screen readers, magnification software), walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids.
3. Training and Support: Providing members with training on how to use the new equipment effectively and safely.
4. Maintenance and Upkeep: Ensuring ongoing maintenance of the equipment to keep it in good working condition.

Budget and Funding Request: The estimated budget for this project is between $15,000 to $20,000. This budget will cover the costs of purchasing various adaptive equipment, training sessions for members, and maintenance costs.
