We work to inspire people to take action for a healthy and clean planet through our rescue projects. We collect books (any and all types of books) then we work to get them reused to improve literacy around the world. Schools, libraries, orphanages, after school programs, hospitals, laundromats - any where kids need books - receive our books.
We rescue (divert from the landfill) school supplies, art supplies. musical instruments, sports equipment that will allow more kids to participate in music programs.
Everything from guitars to pianos - Guitars for Vets and accordions for musical therapy.
We teach about food rescue and then help schools start Share Tables and set up Food Pantries in schools. We help businesses set up food donation programs for emergency shelters.
We teach about the importance of soil and preventing erosion, the importance of native plants - that our drought resistant and help provide for our pollinators.
We encourage people to Pick Up 5 pieces of litter on at least 1 walk a year - 326 million Americans times 5 pieces of garbage equals 1,630,000,000 pieces of litter that won't hurt our wildlife or pollute our waterways.
We work to provide little steps to protect our environment - to very large steps people can take!
Soil - composting, Water - conservation and pollution prevention, Air - quality and pollution prevention. Resources of all types need to be conserved.
We teach about recycling but mostly about reusing and re-purposing.
We love to work with kids to do a Waste Audit of their lunch time leftovers and locker or desk leftovers at the end of the school year. What could we do instead of landfilling whole apples, a book or a spiral notebook.
We try to help people, businesses, and towns to provide resource rescue events. We call them Recycling Extravaganzas. 10 - 15 organizations or companies gather in one parking lot on a Saturday morning - residents can bring scrap metal to be recycled, electronics for recycling, paper for shredding, no longer needed cat transport/carriers or leashes and collars for reuse at an animal shelter, crutches for Crutches for Kids, large batteries for sump pumps, musical instruments for disadvantaged kids, guitars for veterans, American Flags for VFWs and American Legions for proper Retirement ceremonies and on and on.
Participants drive through the large parking lot stopping at the collection points for the items they have. Thousands of tons of items get reused or recycled in one spot.
Liquid vegetable cooking oil collections to keep out of our water ways and to get recycled into bio-fuels.
Pumpkins are gathered after Halloween to be composted.
We have hundreds of projects. We have passionate, enthusiastic staff and volunteers who work together to improve lives with our rescued resources.
