LIONS CLUB OF OLNEY FOUNDATION INC

Your generous support helps fund a wide range of charitable and community-focused initiatives. These include support for the Lions Vision Research Foundation, benefiting the Lions Vision Research and Rehabilitation Center at the Wilmer Eye Institute, sponsorship of Lions Camp Merrick for children with special needs; and coordination and distribution of “Connor’s Kits” to newly diagnosed Type 1 diabetic students in local schools. Contributions also support the Childhood Cancer Center at NIH, pre-School vision screenings, and the provision of eyeglasses and hearing aids for children and adults in need. In addition, your support benefits House of Hope for struggling teenagers and their families, the Olney Boys and Girls Club, service awards and college scholarship programs, and holiday initiatives such as “Toys for Kids”. Funds also assist Olney Help Food Center and the Manna Food Center, enable the lending of medical equipment to those in need, and support the hosting of Red Cross blood drives. Further initiatives include support for Leader Dogs for the Blind and Hero Dogs providing service dogs for veterans, the Rebuilding Together program offering housing repair assistance, local Fire and Rescue Departments and many additional community-based organizations.

We continually try to be aware of the needs of our community and address those needs. As a member of Lions Clubs International (LCI), the club assists people stricken by disasters both in the US and world wide and support such efforts as providing seeing eye and service dogs to thousands of people each year. The LCI was founded in 1917 and is best known for helping the blind and those with visual problems, but has since significantly broadened its scope to include activities that the local clubs deem appropriate.
