National Emergency Gun Violence Relief Fund
Project Description & Funding Request
The Foundation is seeking individual, philanthropic, corporate, and community funding support for the expansion and long-term sustainability of its National Emergency Gun Violence Relief Fund, a rapid-response initiative providing direct emergency financial assistance to youth victims of gun violence and their families across the United States.
The program was developed to address a critical nationwide gap in post-tragedy response systems: the delay between a violent incident and the arrival of meaningful financial assistance for affected families.
Unlike traditional incident-based fundraising campaigns that are launched after tragedies occur, the National Emergency Gun Violence Relief Fund is structured as a pre-established, continuously active emergency reserve capable of deploying assistance immediately upon approval of qualifying applications.
The Foundation’s goal is to ensure that families facing unimaginable trauma are not forced to wait days or weeks for emergency support while fundraising campaigns, administrative reviews, or third-party distribution systems are organized.
Program Purpose
The National Emergency Gun Violence Relief Fund exists to provide:
* Immediate emergency financial assistance to youth victims of gun violence
* Rapid-response aid to parents, guardians, and directly impacted family members
* Financial stabilization during the first critical hours and days following tragedy
* A permanent nationwide response infrastructure capable of deployment without delay
Approved emergency assistance requests are targeted for disbursement within 24 hours or less from approval whenever operationally possible.
The Need
Communities across the United States continue to experience devastating acts of youth gun violence, including school shootings, community shootings, domestic violence incidents, and other firearm-related tragedies affecting children and teenagers.
While public support following these incidents is often significant, families frequently encounter barriers that delay access to urgently needed assistance, including:
* Time required to organize new fundraising campaigns
* Administrative or platform review processes
* Delayed fund distribution timelines
* Lack of immediately available emergency reserves
* Fragmented or inconsistent victim support systems
The Foundation’s leadership identified these challenges through direct engagement with impacted communities nationwide, including experiences connected to incidents in Shreveport and Lewiston.
These experiences reinforced the need for a standing emergency infrastructure that is already funded, already organized, and already prepared before tragedy occurs.
Program Model
The National Emergency Gun Violence Relief Fund operates as a centralized national reserve designed for immediate deployment.
Core Features

* Expand the national emergency reserve pool
* Increase immediate response capacity
* Sustain 24-hour emergency deployment operations
* Support staffing and crisis response coordination
* Enhance verification and application infrastructure
