The goal of AEF is to educate and advance knowledge and understanding about the disease of addiction and substance use disorder, its impact on individuals, families, business, our communities, and society. Addiction Education Foundation’s goal is to provide value solutions towards identifying and addressing the problems and issues that relate to addiction and recovery and the stigma that surrounds it.
Our Veteran Program-2nd Mission
2nd Mission Veteran Sober House is a recovery residence dedicated to military veterans overcoming PTSD and Substance Use Disorder (SUD). Operated by the Addiction Education Foundation Inc., our home provides a safe, structured, and veteran-only sober environment where residents heal through brotherhood, therapy, peer support, and wraparound support services.
Unlike general sober living homes, 2nd Mission addresses the unique needs of veterans by integrating needed treatment and services such as; mental and physical health needs, trauma-focused care (CBT, EMDR, PE), animal-assisted therapy, peer support, VA benefits enrollment and support. Our mission is to help veterans reclaim purpose, stability, and long-term sobriety.
Location: Jacksonville, FL — home to the largest veteran population in Florida.
Certification Goal: Florida Association of Recovery Residences (FARR) and DCF-approved.
Funding Sources: Resident fees, donations, grants, merchandise sales, and community partnerships.
Mission
“To provide veterans with a 2nd Mission—heal from PTSD and addiction and to rebuild their lives with meaning and purpose.”
Vision
A world where every veteran has access to safe housing, tailored recovery services, and the opportunity to live with dignity, purpose, and long-term sobriety.
