We all need something that unites us. Viva Voices believes music has the power to connect all people with the common goal of bringing beauty and joy to our world.Viva Voices is located in northern Kentucky but draws choral singers from all parts of the Greater Cincinnati area. Since its founding, the adult Chorale has grown to over 100 singers and the Youth and Children's Choirs have over 90. They represent all ages, sexes, racial/ethnic backgrounds and socio-economic statuses to create high-quality music and create a passion for choral music through education and lifelong learning through connections with schools, community groups and regional audiences. Viva Voices aims to create a choral experience that is affordable, multi-generational, diverse and high quality. We strive to share the love of the life-enriching art of choral music with people of all ages – creating a life-long choral “home” for area singers.
Viva Voices also meets a need of providing high quality music education/performing arts opportunities for children and youth in Northern Kentucky and the greater Cincinnati area. No other organization based in Northern Kentucky is offering the comprehensive programs we are offering. We also meet a need by providing music education to a large number of homeschool students in the tri-state. Indeed, Viva Voices was voted BEST IN MUSIC INSTRUCTION in 2024 by the readers of Northern Kentucky Magazine in their BEST OF NKY issue. As an example of our growing reputation, our Children and Youth choirs have been invited to perform in Washington DC in the summer of 2026 as part of the nation's 250th birthday celebration.
And because our vision is to celebrate song that addresses the common aspirations of our diverse world, we offer themed series that provide unique performances, venues, and topics of interest. Central to our mission, Viva Voices uses donations from one concert per year to support and extend the work of other community groups. Each season focuses on a theme that relates song to the issues of everyday American life. Viva Voices collaborates with community partners to provide additional audience reach, enrichment, and content. We have collaborated with and supported LifeCenter Organ Donor Network, Central State University (a HBCU institution), Allen Temple AME Church, Tunnel to Towers Foundation of Northern KY(supports families of fallen veterans and first responders), the Christian Appalachian Project (provides for needs of the poor of Appalachia), and the Ruth Lyons Children’s Fund (proves toys to hospitalized children at Christmas).
The great choral conductor Robert Shaw once said, “…music is not a luxury but a necessity…it is the persistent focus of man’s intelligence, aspiration, and good will.” We believe that music has the power to connect people — in its performance, in its messages, and in its ability to inspire and uplift. And by connecting multiple ages, multiple audiences and common themes, we bring a unique approach to choral singing in our community
