Founded in 2014 by five resident doctors, Caravana cu Medici was created to address the severe lack of medical services and education in rural Romania. The association works to bridge the gap between urban and rural healthcare, promote preventive medicine, and raise awareness about healthy lifestyles and disease prevention.
Mission
To provide essential medical services, health education, and preventive care in disadvantaged communities, creating a network of regular, accessible healthcare outreach across Romania.
Key Programs & Impact
Mobile medical teams: 20–30 specialists travel to rural areas to offer free medical consultations, screenings, and education.
Health education in schools: Teaching preventive care, hygiene, and healthy lifestyle habits to the next generation.
Cancer awareness & screening: Organized Romania’s first pilot project for colorectal cancer screening (July 2021).
Emergency response support: Caravana cu Medici stood by Ukraine in April 2022, offering medical assistance in crisis contexts.

1,644 children received medical consultations
375 Babes-Papanicolau tests performed
749 blood tests performed
Medical education provided to 42 schools, reaching 5,145 beneficiaries
