At NPLB Outdoors, we believe in the transformative power of nature and outdoor activities for our combat veterans. We recognize that combat injuries, whether visible or invisible, can leave many veterans feeling disconnected from society and misunderstood.
This disconnection can lead to isolation and hardship in reintegrating into civilian life. That is why we are committed to creating meaningful outdoor experiences—whether through fishing, hunting, hiking, or any of our various outdoor activities. These experiences allow veterans to connect with others and regain belonging in a supportive community. We believe that veterans can find healing, hope, and restoration through shared adventure and camaraderie in nature.
Through these events, we can help veterans heal from their injuries, whether their injury is PTSD, amputation, paralysis, or any other type of injury.
NPLB supplies all the equipment needed to participate in an event and covers all expenses. There is never an expense required or asked of by the veteran or their family.
For example, NPLB hosted a veteran who was blinded by an IED blast on a deer hunt. By using special equipment, we could look through his scope while he maintained control of the weapon, guiding him where to aim and then firing. With our volunteers' help guiding the veteran on where to hold his rifle, he could harvest the deer.
Our organization has never been about hunting, fishing, or any other activities we sponsor. The activities are merely the mechanism our team uses to establish long-term relationships with severely injured veterans. We aim to help each veteran build a reliable support network and assist them however we can to encourage positive outcomes.
