Candlelight Ranch was founded in 1999 to provide a source of healing through nature, balance and peace of mind to children whose full expression is limited by physical, emotional, behavioral, health or financial constraints. Candlelight Ranch, on the north shore of Lake Travis, provides outdoor educational, recreational and therapeutic programs to children with special needs – those who are chronically ill, terminally ill, physically, emotionally or behaviorally challenged, learning disabled, high risk, and/or enrolled in special education classes. Through our programs, Candlelight Ranch responds to the issues of education, environment and youth services.
The Ranch promotes physical, emotional, and mental health by providing overnight, weekend and single-day programs filled with outdoor and natural science education, equine therapy, art, low elements, zip lines, yoga, and hiking. The therapeutic curriculum is non-competitive, innovative, and tailored for specific physical and mental abilities. The interactive programming teaches youth multiple coping and accomplishment skills that can be used throughout a lifetime to enhance both physical and mental health.
Candlelight Ranch collaborates with numerous other non-profits and schools to enhance and extend their special programming by offering unique and accessible facilities and a creative, imaginative curriculum that is customized for each group. Our latest program component is ChillVille – an interactive series of water features that connects to our rain catchment system, and offers cooling play and learning about water ecology and life-cycles. Among our clients are
Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Texas School for the Deaf, Camp Glimmer through a Glimmer of Hope,
Camp Phoenix, Helping Hand Home, Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Austin ISD, Marble Falls ISD, Clay Madsen Adaptive Camp, Horse Boy, SafePlace, Austin Children’s Shelter, Communities in Schools, The Autism Project at the University of Texas, Andy Roddick Foundation, ABA Today, Girl Scout and Brownie troops, The Christi Center, Camp Shalom, Lift Alliance, Autism Society of Greater Austin, Wonders and Worries and others.
