Pines of Sarasota has been a part of the Sarasota community for seven decades. The work of Pines is urgent and life-changing as we care for more seniors who have outlived their financial resources than any other facility in Southwest Florida. These individuals are the teachers, business owners, construction workers, police officers, actors, dancers, caregivers and the workforce that built, entertained and educated our community. Through no fault of their own, more than 50% of our residents have outlived their resources. If not for Pines, where would they be? Because of the generous donors and funders who have supported this organization, these amazing individuals can remain at Pines, the place they call home.
It is anticipated that by 2050 there will be 830,000 centenarians in the United States, Florida, by far, will have the largest number. As of 2016, those 80 and older totaled over 150,000 in Sarasota alone. As our community ages, many of our seniors have and will experience financial shortfall. Our mission is essential for a life of dignity—we care for all of our residents equally, no matter their financial position.
While our aging population continues to grow, our campus continues to age. We are at a critical point in our history and must engage our community like never before in the support of the mission and vision of Pines. We know, with no hesitation, our campus will continue to age and our shortfall will continue to increase. Therefore, we must seek new and innovative ways to support the needs of Pines of Sarasota and create an opportunity for our community to get behind this important organization.
: Pines has grown into a unique community resource that provides the following services on an annual basis to the number of people listed below:
• Skilled nursing- 500
• Assisted living – 60
• In-patient and out-patient physical, occupational, speech and aqua therapies – 550
• Secure memory care – 70
• Early Childhood Education - 65 (6 months - 5 years old) at free or reduced cost
• Transportation services - 1,300
• Ready & Steady, a free community program to reduce the number of preventable falls - 2,000
• Certified Nursing Assistant Program – 100
