United Way of Central Maryland is providing what’s needed, where it’s needed. We strengthen lives and neighborhoods across Greater Baltimore by promoting equity and increasing access to basic needs.
Thanks to our extensive network of partners, supporters, and volunteers, United Way is prepared to translate donations into meaningful, lasting change like no other organization.
Your donation goes where it’s needed most in the community, and to programs that are held accountable for measurable outcomes.
Your gift to United Way supports:
HOUSING
A place to call home is a basic—and essential—human need, but evictions are taking place at a staggering rate. We help families experiencing housing instability, provide support to keep children in their school of origin, and provide tools to help families maintain self-sufficiency.
EDUCATION
United Way breaks down barriers to educational equity from every angle. Serving 4,000+ students and families, United Way’s On Track 4 Success program aims to mitigate adverse life outcomes by providing tools to monitor, intervene, and prevent student withdrawal from school while promoting academic success.
ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT
United Way’s Economic Advancement programs help people gain self-sufficiency, support local businesses with employment needs, and contribute to the region’s economic stability. Our programs break down barriers to employment and economic advancement to build thriving employees.
HEALTH
United Way strives to ensure everyone has access to healthy food and resources. Through our programming, we also offer a safe space for our neighbors to talk about mental health and work to reduce barriers to healthcare through vaccine and health literacy education
211
211 at United Way of Central Maryland connects people of all ages from all communities to essential health and human services they need. Our 24-hour, free, confidential helpline averages more than 440 calls a day.
NEIGHBORHOOD ZONES
Focused on multi-generational support, our Neighborhood Zones in Brooklyn, Poppleton, and Columbia help expand economic, health, and educational equity. Neighborhood Zones make a tangible and often life-changing impact on the stability and success of residents and the neighborhood. Offerings include on-site Family Centers, housing and employment assistance, dropout prevention programs, mental health services, and more.
VETERANS TREATMENT COURT
Many men and women who fought for our country face another fight when they return home. Their battles can include finding and keeping a job and a home, mental health issues, or substance use—which can lead to minor law offenses. The Veterans Treatment Court, supported by United Way, salutes their service and supports them as they overcome obstacles to success in civilian life.
UNITED FOR CHILDCARE
United for Childcare is a multifaceted initiative to address the childcare crisis in our region, which impacts parents and children, providers, communities, and our economy. The pandemic has revealed the extent of the childcare crisis in our country, from a lack of affordable early childhood education options to a national staffing shortage and wage inequities. Our goal is to expand access to enriching, quality education for young children, proven to lead to future academic and economic success.
Your support will help make lives better for those who call Central Maryland home, because strong neighbors create stronger neighborhoods.
