VetsinTech (ViT) was founded in 2012 and granted non-profit status in 2014. The organization supports our current and returning veterans with re-integration services, and by connecting them to the national technology ecosystem. ViT is committed to bringing together a tech-specific network, resources, and programs for our veterans interested in Education, Entrepreneurship, and Employment – the 3E’s:
Education - We are focused on those veterans that already have shown an interest and aptitude for working in the technology industry, which is not only programming, but also design, law, business, marketing and finance, operations, product or project management. By augmenting existing skill sets where needed with online and intense classroom programs, we can match veterans with new skills to positions where those skills are needed. Our current training programs include Salesforce Admin, Full-Stack developer, Cybersecurity, Network Admin and Microsoft MSSA training.
Entrepreneurship - We organize various entrepreneur programs including hack-a-thons, pitch events, VetCap (capital for veterans) teaching about options for capital, visionary and leadership speaker series, local meet-ups and networking events, and business plan competitions. Other benefits include co-working and accelerator spaces for winning teams to work together and discounts on events or tech products and solutions for startups.
Employment - Through various partnerships we help veterans with resume writing and interview skills, connect them with mentors to help them find direction in the tech world, provide job matching services and hold job networking events with local tech companies. In addition, we have established relationships with corporate talent representatives and recruiters who work ViT to help veterans get hired.
Notable organizations that have awarded VetsinTech include the California National Guard for the Work for Warriors Program and American Legion Women Veterans. VetsInTech receives extensive press coverage at events from media sources including CBS, ABC, Fox, TechCrunch, Businessweek, VentureBeat, and Huffington Post.
