We are unashamed of what we are and what we stand for. Historically, we have three distinctives: 1) A clear, simple message: a) Lost people need to hear how to be saved. Mixing salvation by grace through faith with any addition of good works confuses lost people – and they stay lost. b) Saved people ought to be taught how to live Christian lives. Saved people ought to be baptized, ought to submit to the Lordship of Christ, ought to deal with their sins, ought to pray, ought to study God’s Word, ought to participate in the local church, and ought to learn how to effectively share the gospel. c) Florida Bible College of Tampa never mixes salvation and service and never confuses grace with good works. 2) A passion to present the gospel message effectively: FBCT students learn personal evangelism methods and skills that have proven effective for generations: a) The “wallet illustration” first described by R. A. Torrey and perfected by A. Ray Stanford, is mastered and used by all staff and students. b) One-on-one presentation of the gospel, utilizing a simple gospel tract, is taught and perfected. c) A lost person is given enough information to understand the gospel without moving from his seat – we invite him to receive the Savior “just as he is”, where he is. d) We emphasize the importance of presenting the gospel on every occasion. 3) Faithfulness to the fundamental doctrines of the faith.
