LITTLE ACTS OF LOVE INC

The mission of Little Acts of Love (LAL) is to provide simple home repairs to the elderly, low income, disabled and veteran homeowners of the Greater Reading Community while building a heart for service and compassion in our youth and adult volunteers. All of the work and materials is provided at no cost to the homeowner.
LAL was informally established in 2010. It was identified that disadvantaged homeowners were having significant difficulties maintaining the physical integrity of their homes. Many were faced with large fines from local government due to these issues. They were not able to afford the fine nor the cost of the repair. It was at this time that local youth groups, under adult leadership and supervision, began to provide simple home repairs one week each summer. LAL’s Summer Service Camp Program was established in 2015 where youth from outside of our community joined us for a week of service.

During the remainder of the year, local volunteers from the community, businesses and local churches are asked to assist us in meeting the most urgent needs such as accessibility ramps and safety devices. We also serve veterans through special funding which also provides skilled volunteers to address projects that are of greater scope. Through this dedicated grant we have changed the lives of more than 30 veterans to date.
