Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat whose district includes Minneapolis, offered prayers and support to the victims and families impacted by the deadly mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School.
“I think, you know as a mom, it’s just incredibly painful to know what these parents are going through. To have you know — send your 8-year-old, 10-year-old to school and within few hours, as they sit in for prayer to have them be gunned down is just unspeakable horror,” Omar told reporters. “So, my heart breaks for the families and the victims of this tragic morning here in Minneapolis at Annunciation Catholic Church.”
She said authorities “don’t know much” at this point but “we’re going to learn more about motives and what more can be done to make sure we can avoid tragedies like this.”
Omar said she has spoken to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other local authorities about the shooting.
