CAPITOL CITY BAND ASSOCIATION

The Capitol City Band Association (CCBA): two bands – one mission
building community, making a difference through music (rhythms and sounds).

Capitol City Band since 1969 - 55 years playing free concerts in the park. In 2018, the Capitol City Band, one of Wisconsin’s finest concert bands, played the 900th free concert in the park. The band plays annually at Rennebohm Park in Madison WI.

Founder Elmer Ziegler and UW Emeritus band director, Ray Dvorak, and others have conducted the bands. Jim Latimer has been conductor-in-chief since 1981.Caring through music.

VFW Volunteer Band since 1950 - 73 years playing in places of health care, assisted and independent living. The band plays for Veterans services on Veterans Day and Memorial Day each year.

On April 17, 2023, the VFW Volunteer Band played the 1100th public service concert. The band rehearses at VFW Post 1318 and plays 16 to 18 concerts from September through May.

The VFW Band gives musicians of all walks of life, amateurs, semi-pro and professional musicians, the opportunity to give back to the community playing free concerts in places of health care and assisted living and for Veterans events from September through May each year.
