From our work with McHenry County low income seniors (who may not have a strong support system), to military family's, homeless veterans and local neighbors in need, our goal is to simply spread love and kindness to those that may need it most.
We started the Adopt A Grandparent Programs as a way to honor my parents.
In 2019 both my mother and father passed away suddenly just four months apart. Our family was struggling. My children and grandchildren had such a connection to their grandparents and now they were gone.
In 2020 we saw a local nursing home asking for donations of Christmas gifts for their senior residents because they had been so lonely and isolated through the Covid pandemic. They wanted to do something nice to cheer up their residents. Due to the pandemic we were not holding our annual event for local children and families in need, so our family decided to "Adopt" the Grandparents in that facility and we provided the gifts they were requesting, as a way to honor my parents.
That led us to research what programs were available for our local seniors who may not have a strong support system, and realizing there was a need, the Adopt A Grandparent Programs were created.
We have numerous programs throughout the year, because it's important for us to remind these seniors that they are not alone and forgotten.
My parents are no longer with us, but through these programs my family has found a way to honor their memory by helping others.
We welcome you to join us as we share kindness and love with our local seniors who may need it the most.
The Adopt A Grandparent programs work with low income seniors and senior veterans residing in senior living facilities, nursing homes and memory care facilities.
Other programs provided by Fisher Outreach Group, Inc. include a Winter Gear Drive for homeless veterans, Thanksgiving Food program for military families, a Holiday Display and Food Drive, School Supply Giveaway for local families, Winter Gear Giveaway for Children in need and homeless veterans, and so much more.
We are a unique non-profit organization that runs on 100% volunteer power and offers a wide variety of programs and services in McHenry County, Illinois.
