Crescent City Schools is a Charter Management Organization located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Since its founding in 2010, Crescent City Schools has grown from one school, serving 500 students, to a network of three schools serving more than 2,600 students in PreK through eighth grade. Crescent City Schools serves students on four campuses throughout New Orleans: Harriet Tubman Charter School, Tubman Montessori, Dorothy Height Charter School, and Mildred Osborne Charter School. Crescent City Schools is dedicated to transforming failing schools into high-performing college preparatory charter schools that are accessible to all students regardless of their past academic record or special need. While opening and operating academically excellent schools that start small and expand one grade per year is a worthy endeavor, Crescent City Schools seeks to effect change in education in New Orleans through whole school turnaround. We believe that children who attend a failing school currently do not have time to wait and should have the opportunity to obtain an excellent education immediately. Whole school turnaround is a challenging mission, but it is vital to the ultimate goal of ensuring that all children in New Orleans attend an academically excellent institution. Crescent City Schools is focused on preparing our students for high school, college, and beyond. Our unwavering faith in our students’ potential, as well as our commitment to developing effective and inspiring educators, builds the fundamental basis for our instructional model. The core program at each of our schools includes educational elements that dramatically raise student achievement, create a culture of respect and joy, and maximize the efforts of school-based leadership.
