CIDNY’s offices in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island, CIDNY employs 160 staff members and serves more than 40,000 New Yorkers with disabilities each year—many with multiple disabilities—across all five boroughs. CIDNY operates with an annual budget of more than $12 million and offers a wide range of services, including: Independent Living Skills Training, Individual and Systems Advocacy, Information and Referral, Long-Term Care, Nursing Home Transition and Diversion, Employment, Food Access, Health Care, Housing, Transportation, Peer Counseling, SSI & SSDI assistance, Youth Services, Mental Health Services, Veteran Support, Legal Services, Fee-for-Service Programs, Training, and Education.
CIDNY is a nonprofit organization founded in 1978. We are part of the Independent Living Centers movement: a national network of grassroots and community-based organizations that enhance opportunities for all people with disabilities to direct their own lives.
