In 2018 and beyond, the medium of live looping offers aspects far beyond the value of an individual performance. These aspects make it an ideal education and outreach platform for arts, music, and technology for a mass general audience with little or no demographic limitations. These can include but are not limited to the following features:

- ACCESSIBLE: As a technology that has been in existence for multiple decades, it is now incredibly accessible and portable in low-cost and easy-to-use fashions. Current technology can even offer options for those with mental or physical disabilities.

- HIGH ENGAGEMENT: The general creativity and novelty of live looping performances lends an accessible path to general audiences to music via technology and vice versa;

- INCLUSIVE: As an arts/music/performance method or technique, live looping music performances can be created that bridge cultural, disciplinary, genre, generational and racial boundaries.

- INDIVIDUAL/GROUP FRIENDLY: As a technique that can be used solo or in group settings, it does not mandate or limit a number of person(s) required for its use;

- INSPIRATIONAL: "Give a person a fish, feed them for a day. Teach a person how to fish, you feed them for life." Rather than an audience reaction of "if only I could do that", it can garner the more typical reaction of "I wonder what I could do with that," inspiring creation & creativity to anyone it touches.

- INTERACTIVE: Because it involves recording and replaying in real time, audiences and their members can become part of the live ongoing performance.

- MULTI-PURPOSE: It is a free-standing education and outreach platform for arts, technology, or the fusion of both.

- PORTABLE: Today's technology offers the ability to create live looping performances in the space the size of a phone booth, "silent stages" at art installations, or connect to existing systems to expand the medium into arena- and stadium-sized venues. This makes it more affordable and possible to "bring YouTube to life" for general and mass audiences, artists, students, and educators.

- ABOUT PHILLTER -

PHILLTER (The Performance & Human Interactive Live Looping Technology Education Renaissance) is an organization born from 2017's PHILLfest (One Human Band International Music Festival) in Pittsburgh, PA, US. This portable, multigenre, and multigenerational "micro-festival" which introduced live looping music to general audiences through the creation of a week custom performances in the city's largest international arts festival (Three Rivers Arts Festival), mainstream music venues, and by introducing live looping in local schools. PHILLTER seeks to actively & directly introduce live looping music directly to communities, creating a live and lasting footprint in its educational systems and spaces where arts and music are consumed publicly. It is our desire to further develop and foster an organization celebrating the technique of live looping music through education and outreach. We seek to further wide-spread live & interactive programs for general audiences, arts organizations, schools, and performing artists.

We are in the planning stages for 2018's PHILLfest and plan to introduce it in as many as four new cities this year. The expanded goals have forced our growth and have us considering our expansion to several year-round projects that will tour the US and beyond. In our home city of Pittsburgh, PA we are currently developing the following three additional platforms to use live loop music to create public benefit:

- Incubator Nights: Community music nights focusing on offering more seasoned performers a platform for their "live looping" music debuts.

- Live Loop U: Customized and affordable K-12 & collegiate programs introducing and installing live looping as a meaningful education platform for educators and students.

- One Human Bands: Support for talented loop artists looking to hit the road.

- Outreach First: Creating and combining a network of ambassador artists artists with schools demonstrating a lack of general funding, or those specifically underfunded in arts or technology to create pop-up outreach days with lasting educational footprints throughout the US.
