ALPHARETTA CITY BANDS CORP

Alpharetta City Band Scope of Services is based upon our program for the year: “Songs, Seniors and Students”. The following serves for the scope:

Seniors: In keeping with our long-standing tradition and program activity, the band and ensembles will be providing a minimum of eight performances to be held at North Fulton assisted living centers, nursing centers and/or memory care centers. Included in this reach to our Senior Citizen audience, we will host two ‘Friends and Family’ concerts to be held during first and third quarter at Alpharetta’s Adult Activity Centers.

Students: Two specific initiatives will be aimed at this group. First, a ‘Music in Schools’ program will be held in the first and second half of the year. Targeted will be High School concert bands where an opportunity to learn together, rehearse together and to perform together will be accomplished. The second focus will be on a program ‘Student Conductor Partnership’ where, at one minimum, we will be partnering/sponsoring a Georgia University System music major who will develop a score, work with our band and leadership to refine, and to perform that piece with the band to give that student real world experience.

Songs: Finally, the band will, through the Concert Band, Jazz Band and additional ensembles will provide the North Fulton community with performances including a concert series for the general public, performing at the American Legion, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Old Soldier’s Day, Flag Day and Veteran’s Day to honor both our seniors and veterans and various other holidays throughout the year including Halloween, Octoberfest, and December holidays. Not only does this provide more opportunity to focus on our key audiences, it allows the band membership to continue doing what they love to do without the need for tryouts and membership dues. This band is entirely made up of volunteer members of all ages, diversity and skill levels.

Structural: The band’s final scope involves improvement of two technical areas: 1) Succession planning/development of board members and committee chairs, and 2) Improvement of web-based services. The latter focus is aimed at improving the website for guests so mailing lists may be developed, concert series may be advertised/marketed and development of a more coherent method of donating to the band. Internally, the web-based development will focus on internal emailing capabilities and membership management.
